How to Make Delicious Smiley Face Cookies:

  1. Gather all your ingredients, and set them out so they are easy for little hands to grab.
  2.  Cut the licorice laces into pieces that are about 2 inches long.
  3. Scoop out some of the lemon frosting and put it in a microwave safe bowl.
  4. Heat it on high for 10 seconds.
  5. Remove it from the microwave and stir. You want it liquid enough to dip the cookies into, but not so wet that it will run off the cookies.
  6. Heat longer if needed.
Dip Cookies In Lemon Frosting that is warmed up in a frosting tub.

Make sure the lemon frosting isn’t too hot. You don’t want it too runny or hot enough to burn your fingers.

  7. Turn a cookie upside down and dip the top of the cookie into the melted lemon frosting.
  8. Turn the cookie over and set down. If the frosting runs off the cookie, allow the frosting to cool slightly and try another one. You want the frosting to coat the tops of the cookies, but not be too runny.

Use the licorice to make smiley faces!

  9. After dipping just a few cookies, add the decorations. The frosting needs to be wet in order for them to stick easily.
  10. Press two chocolate chip eyes onto the cookie and add a licorice smile.
  11. Allow the frosting to dry, then enjoy.
Notes:

If you want to make these to bring to a party or event, allow them to dry for an hour before stacking them.

You could also make these into other emojis and turn these into emoji cookies. Turning the licorice upside down will make a sad face, a straight line and two slanted eyebrows to make an angry emoji, also making eyes like this >< and a smiley face or squiggly mouth are also different types of emojis.

If you use white frosting and just add some food gel you can make yellow emojis or if you add enough red you can make angry faces, or adding green will make sick emojis.
