One of my family’s favorite weekend traditions is trying out new a pancake recipe. Nothing beats a stack of homemade pancakes!
How to Make Homemade Pancake Mix
Have you ever craved a plate of fresh pancakes, only to find you are out of Bisquick? Don’t let that stop you! Making pancakes from scratch is actually super easy, and they can be made with ingredients you already have in the pantry.

- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients (to add once you are ready to make pancakes):

- ¾ cup milk or buttermilk
- 2 tablespoon vegetable or canola oil
How to Make Homemade Pancake Mix
I love that this pancake recipe is made out of basic pantry ingredients!
With the holidays coming, this recipe even makes a great gift idea. Package a couple of jars of dry homemade pancake mix inside a cute mixing bowl, along with a measuring cup, a whisk, a spatula, flavored syrups, and chocolate chips. This would also make a cute hostess or bridal shower gift!
How to Make Homemade Pancake Mix:
1. In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients until well combined.
2. Store in airtight container or jar with lid.

How to Make Vegan Pancakes
If you are on a vegan diet, or are cooking for someone who is, no worries! This recipe can be tailored to be egg-free and dairy-free, too!
Replace the eggs with a mixture of 1/4 of unsweetened applesauce and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. This constitutes 1 “egg”. You can also make an egg replacement out of flaxseed meal, by mixing 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed (flaxseed meal), wit three tablespoons of water. Then, let it sit in your refrigerator to thicken, for 15-30 minutes before using it.
Replace milk with your favorite non-dairy milk, like almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, oat milk, or hemp milk. I have also made this recipe with water instead of milk, and still wound up with really fluffy pancakes!
How to Make Gluten Free Pancakes from Scratch
This is the easiest substitution you will find! Use a gluten free all-purpose flour. I prefer King Arthur Gluten Free Flour, but there are many good ones to choose from! Make sure your baking powder is gluten free, too.
Yield: 8-10 pancakes
