My family and I now have plans every Friday night while we’re stuck at home. We’re watching Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals on YouTube. As if that’s not amazing enough, these musicals are going to be FREE.
Where you can watch Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals
Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber partnered with Universal to launch a new YouTube show aptly called, “The Shows Must Go On.”
They plan to release one full-length musical every Friday at 7 p.m. UK time (that’s 2 p.m. Eastern) while we’re all stuck at home.
Each musical will be available for 48 hours. As Webber shares in his Facebook announcement that gives you all weekend to watch it… or to watch it multiple times.
First up? On Friday, April 3, 2020, tune in to the 2000 version of Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat.
The film version stars Donny Osmond as Joseph and Maria Friedman as the narrator. While the film was never rated in the U.S., it’s one the family can most definitely enjoy together.
Chances are, the kids will adore the dancing. They might even start singing along to Webber classics like “Go, Go, Go, Joseph,” and “Any Dream Will Do.”
On April 10, the channel will release the 2012 film Jesus Christ Superstar. Be sure to subscribe to the channel, because, in addition to the weekly musical releases, they’ll be posting even more behind-the-scenes footage.
How You Can Support the Theater
Free Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals are amazing and all, but how can we support the cast if we’re not paying anything? “The Shows Must Go On” channel suggests donations to charities like Broadway Cares, Acting for Others, and Actors Benevolent Fund.

Other Musical Entertainment From Andrew Lloyd Webber
In case you’ve missed it, Webber is also filling his social media channels with plenty of music. Not only is he taking requests on Twitter, and having some fun with his piano, but he’s been hosting Sunday singalongs as well.

One thing is for sure. Andrew Lloyd Webber is making the most of his time in self-isolation, and the world of musical lovers is incredibly thankful for that.
