What Ingredients Do I need to Make Homemade Bisquick Mix?
The best part about this recipe is that it’s made out of ingredients you probably already have in the pantry!
I love that you can make this mix ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to three months. It’s just as convenient as the box mix from the store.

Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ tablespoons baking powder
1 ½ teaspoons salt
½ cup (1 stick) butter, cold and cubed
How to Make Homemade Bisquick Mix
You don’t need any fancy equipment for this copycat Bisquick mix recipe! All you need is a mixing bowl, a whisk, a fork or a pastry blender, and an airtight storage container.
1. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
2. Cut butter into flour mixture using a pastry blender or fork.
3. Transfer to airtight container and store in refrigerator for up to 3 months.
Food Processor Method for Homemade Bisquick Mix:
If you prefer, you can easily make this Bisquick mix substitute with a food processor.
1. Add flour, baking powder and salt to food processor.
2. Pulse to combine.
3. Add butter and pulse until mixture is coarse and resembles cornmeal.
4. Transfer to airtight container and store in refrigerator for up to 3 months.
How to Make Biscuits From Homemade Bisquick Mix
There are tons of recipes made with Bisquick mix, but biscuits are my favorite. They are so versatile and can be served with breakfast as breakfast sandwiches, or biscuits with jelly, or even served with soup or a meal for lunch and dinner!
This recipe makes 8 biscuits if you use a 2.5 inch cutter.
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups homemade Bisquick mix
½ cup milk
1. Lightly spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
3. Combine ingredients in a medium bowl until soft dough forms.
4. Knead dough until well combined.
5. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out with a rolling pin to about ½ inch thick and cut with a round cookie cutter.
6. Alternatively, drop by tablespoons onto greased baking sheet.
7. Bake for 7-9 minutes or until golden brown.
How Do I Make Gluten Free Bisquick Mix and Gluten Free Biscuits?
This is a simple substitution! Just use gluten free all-purpose flour, and make sure that your baking powder is also gluten free. That’s it, and it is most likely cheaper than buying the gluten free boxed Bisquick mix in the store!
Vegan Homemade Bisquick Mix and Vegan Biscuits
In order to make your homemade Bisquick mix vegan, you will need to use vegan butter and a plant-based milk–such as almond milk or rice milk.
Yield: 3 1/2 cups
