you've been booed treat basket with suckers, a card, and toys.

This basket is so cute and all your neighbors are sure to love it.

You’ve Been BOOed

I love October.  Cooler temperatures, Candy Corn, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes are just a few of my favorite things that October brings us.   Plus October has some fun traditions that kick off the “holiday season”.  Cause you know this momma starts celebrating in October and doesn’t end ’til January!

One of our favorite October traditions that really brings our neighborhood together is the advent of having your house Booed.  What? You haven’t heard of this fun sport?  It is a fun way to get the kids excited about Halloween and bring your neighbors together.

Halloween Surprise

Essentially, you bring your neighbors a Fall/Halloween basket of treats anonymously.  That’s right – Your ring the doorbell and RUN!!  Each person is assigned to do the same for two more neighbors and the fun continues throughout the neighborhood.

So, How can I Start the BOOing Tradition on my Street?

Very Easily.  Get creative and make a Boo sign and instructions.

Use Our Boo Verses To Make Your Boo Sign or Make Your Own

We made our own littler poem with multiple verses to really tie the basket together. There is nothing better than a homemade card to make a gift basket feel warm. Feel free to use ours or you can make your own!

Here is what ours says:

 You’ve Been BOOed!!

The air is cool, the season fall,

Soon Halloween will come to all.

With ghosts and goblins, spooks galore,

Trick-or-Treaters at the door.

The spooks are after things to do.

In fact, a spook brought this to you!

The treats that come with this short note

Are yours to keep.  Enjoy them both!

Excitement grows when friends like you

Will copy it, and make it two.

Neighbors will have smiling faces;

None can guess who “BOOed”which places.

A day or two to work your spell,

But keep it hidden! Hide it well!

Join the fun; the season’s here.

So spread these “BOOs” – and share the cheer!

Steps To Boo Your Neighbors

Instructions are to place the BOO sign on your front door so that everyone knows you have been BOOed.

Halloween surprise! The booed card is sitting right next to this beautiful iron and glass door with an autumn leaf wreath with reds, golds, and oranges.

Your neighbors are sure to be surprised with this adorable gift.

Make two copies of the note and BOO sign.  Make two treat bags/baskets and BOO other neighbors!

Some ideas for treats can be Halloween trinkets (stickers, cups, straws), Halloween candy, homemade fall treats or fall decor.

Here are some of our favorite items available on Amazon! (Affiliate links.)

Don’t want to make your own sign & instructions?  There are lots of fantastic You’ve Been Booed templates available online.

You've been boo'd treats like green halloween cups, plastic spiders, skeleton straws, suckers, and halloween themed pencils.

These treats are not only cute, but affordable.

You’ve Been Boo’d

Such a fun Halloween surprise!!  The best part is hearing the kids excitedly try to guess who BOOed who!!

On our street, we BOO everyone – even if they don’t have kiddos – because who wouldn’t like a Fall treat from their neighbors?  And from time to time, we may have people who do not want to participate. But because each house is BOOing two, the effect gets multiplied and before too long, everyone has been BOOed!

Just another neat way to bring your street together in a fun tradition!
