When you think of lassi, you often think of a summer drink, that’s cool and refreshing on a hot, muggy day. However, lassi is also a great drink for the cold weather, when you need all the immunity boosting nutrients you can get!
Curd is the main ingredient of any lassi, and it is loaded with calcium, potassium, vitamins A, C, B-6, D, E, K, riboflavin, folate and zinc. All these help in boosting immunity and is great for overall development of babies. While curd can be introduced to babies after 6 months, today’s lassi recipe is suitable for children over the age of one, since it contains jaggery. Other than the tiny ones, everyone else in the fmaily can enjoy this refreshing drink!
Ingredients:
- Saffron – 5 strands
- Curd – 3/4 cup
- Jaggery – 2 tsp
- Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
Method:
1. Soak kesar in water for 5 minutes.
2. Add curd, jaggery, kesar, cardamom powder in blender and blend well
3. Serve cool or warm.
The addition of kesar or saffron infuses this drink with a much needed dose of antioxidants along with a beautiful golden color. We’ve done away with refined sugar with is nothing but empty calories and opted for jaggery instead, which aids digestion and relieves constipation. The best part – this is a drink that’s suitable even for those who are lactose intolerant. Now everyone can enjoy some lassi this season!
