Update: This one pot pizza pasta recipe was updated August 2020 with new photos and additional information for reader benefit.
When it comes to easy dinner ideas for kids, pasta and pizza often come to mind.
But, unlike black forest pizza, homemade pizza balls, and this pepperoni pizza bread recipe – this recipe only requires one pot.
This dinner idea is super quick and easy to make. In fact, you can have it ready to serve in about 20 minutes!
How to Make this One Pot Pizza Pasta Recipe
Ingredients you need:
Step One: Over medium heat, heat up the olive oil and cook the Italian Sausage until it looks like a crumble. This takes about 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat.
Step 2: Add rest of the ingredients except cheese and parsley.
This is the fun part! Add the water, pasta sauce, 1/2 of the pepperoni, dry pasta and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Remember the pasta is not cooked for this step — it will cook in the skillet with everything else.
Mix completely and put back on the stove on medium heat.
You will bring the skillet to a boil. Reduce heat to allow for a simmer, cover and leave alone for about 12-13 minutes until the past is cooked.
Again keep in mind not to over-cook the pasta because it will cook a bit in the oven when you melt the cheese.
Step 3: Add rest of pepperoni and top with cheese.
Once the pasta is done, remove from heat and add your toppings.
Start with a layer of pepperoni and top it off with all of your shredded mozzarella cheese.
Put in the oven for just 2 minutes on the top shelf set on the “broil” setting until the cheese is melted.
Add a little chopped parsley for color and serve. We put the skillet on our dining room table and served right from the pan.
You can serve with a veggie or some french bread. But like pizza, your kids will love this dish as their complete meal!
