Imagine walking outside and seeing 300 drones light up the night sky in a spectacular show. The drones fly through the air, forming different shapes and designs. One of those designs includes a big “thank you” message to all the healthcare workers working on the coronavirus frontlines. That’s exactly what happened in Seoul, South Korea.
Seoul didn’t announce the show beforehand (so that crowds of people wouldn’t gather), so it came as a beautiful surprise to the city’s residents.
How to Watch the South Korea Drone Show
Seoul’s surprise drone show happened on July 4. When the show starts, it looks a bit like a fireworks show. The drones even formed into shapes that resembled bursts of fireworks. But it quickly becomes evident — as seen in this video from the South Korea Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport — that this was no ordinary fireworks show.
Throughout the drone show, the drones formed into different designs, including medical workers wearing protective gear. It also did more than thank frontline workers.
The show continued to encourage social distancing measures. It did that by having the drones form into pictures of people wearing masks and social distancing. It also reminded people to keep thoroughly washing their hands.
The drone show was not only creative, but it was also quite beautiful while sharing an important message. Just like the drones, we need to work together. After all, we’re all in this together.
