While many restaurants all over the U.S. are making their menus smaller, KFC is taking a different route. It’s testing out a whole new menu item: plant-based chicken using faux chicken from the company Beyond Meat.
Where Can I Get The KFC Plant-Based Chicken?
This isn’t the first time the fried-chicken chain of restaurants has tested out plant-based chicken, which is made with soy, wheat, and pea proteins and then fried. They’ve served Beyond Fried Chicken in Nashville, Charlotte, and Atlanta over the past year. But while those were super limited runs, this one looks like a much bigger market.
That’s because the plant-based chicken menu option will be available in 50 KFC locations in California. More specifically, you can find them in KFC restaurants in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Orange County.
Interested in the plant-based chicken? Then run, don’t walk, to one of those KFC restaurants. The faux chicken dishes are currently available in those locations — but only while supplies last.
Depending on how this “test” goes, KFC may — fingers crossed — make it a permanent fixture on the menu, and not just in Cali.
KFC is definitely jumping on the bandwagon of offering plant-based meals. Multiple fast-food chains are already serving faux-meat dishes, and they’re being gobbled up.
So, if you can’t make it out to a KFC in California, consider going to Starbucks for their plant-based breakfast sandwich, Burger King for their Impossible Whopper and Impossible Croissan’wich, or Dunkin’, which has its very own Beyond Meat breakfast sandwich as well as a plant-based wrap.
KFC may be known for its chicken, but it’s about time KFC joined the faux meat movement too!
