The New SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Will Be Released Straight to Streaming Services

With social distancing, movies have been looking a little differently, as major studios have been releasing some of their most anticipated films direct to on-demand or streaming services.

We happen to love this plan, and being able to enjoy movies in our homes. Next up this year? The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run will be released to streaming services later this year.

In “Sponge on the Run”, best friends SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star leave Bikini Bottom and head to the Lost City of Atlantic City on a rescue mission to save Gary the Snail.

Initially, the newest SpongeBob movie was set to release in May, then pushed back until August. Instead, Paramount will now release direct to streaming services, allowing fans of the famous sponge to enjoy the movie right in their homes.

Several studios have released their spring and summer movies direct to streaming, bringing your favorite characters right to your home. Disney’s Artemis Fowl, Universal’s “Trolls World Tour”, and Warner Brothers “Scoob” are available via various streaming services for your enjoyment.
