Let’s be honest: the free samples at Costco were always a big draw. My kids loved them. I loved them. Everyone loved them. So am I excited that they’re bringing them back this June? Well, that remains to be seen.
How will the Costco free samples be handed out?
As the threat of coronavirus grew, it only made sense for the warehouse club to stop offering the smorgasboard of sample stations. People often gathered around the stations and just grabbed the tasty treats as soon as they could.
But this June, Costco says they’re bringing back Club Demonstration Services, the third-party product demo company in charge of the sample stations, and in turn the free samples will be back in warehouses throughout the U.S. again.
People will not be allowed to just pick up an open sample anymore though. So how will the Costco sample stations work? Details of that haven’t been shared quite yet.
The only thing they’ve said is there will be “new sanitary rules.” The sampling stations will also be slowly rolled out, most likely to test to see how patrons handle the new rules.
Additionally, things will be changing at the Costco food court once more. They’re planning on bringing back some menu items, so that shoppers have more meal options to choose from as they leave the warehouse store.
So am I excited about free samples coming back? Sure. But I’d love a bit more info on how it’ll all work to continue to ensure the safety not only of shoppers, but of the employees who run the sampling stations, too.
