How To Easily Keep All Your Kids School Memories In One Place… Try a School Memory Binder!

By: Liz

We’re showing you the most simple way to keep your kids school papers organized and safe for the long haul.

Math tests scattered on the kitchen table.

A fridge overflowing with art class drawings stuck on with a magnet.

Papers and papers everywhere.

When my kids bring home something they have so proudly worked on in school it’s really hard for me to part with it. I know most moms feel the same way.

Because of that, we were keeping everything with no real place to put it.

The problem though, is that you not only end up with a huge mess, you’re doing all their beautiful work a huge disservice. When you want to go back in 10 or 20 years to look at the sweet things they made on Mother’s Day you will have no idea where it went.

I really wanted to preserve the things that my kids worked on that were special and allow myself to toss the things that weren’t. (Tossing things is hard for some of us.)

So, I came up with the idea of a school memory binder.

Grab a small binder and some document protectors to get started. We also used this set of printables.

The printables are totally optional but I like that it comes with an editable file you can use to customize your kids name on the front cover.

It also has a grade divider for each grade (preschool – senior year), and dividers so you can separate awards, report cards and art projects. And a place to put each years school photo.

Now, after school I set aside things I know we really want to hang onto. I know when I see a drawing of our family, or a really sweet story they wrote that it needs a spot in the binder. It’s become easier for me to see a half done math worksheet and throw it in the trash. Put the papers in a document protector so they will be safe for years to come.

My kids love going to get their binder and looking back at things they need a year or two ago.

I’m so glad we are storing our kids’ memories this way!
