It’s time for a playdate with Elmo!
With social distancing still in place, it will have to be a virtual playdate, but everyone’s favorite Sesame Street character will be hosting his very own playdate. Sesame Street: Elmo’s Playdate will air on April 14th!
Sesame Workshop’s Caring for Each Other initiative is part of the process, working to try to help their youngest fans learn, grow, and understand more in this time of crisis. The solution? A virtual playdate with Elmo, of course.
Elmo will be joined by his friends Cookie Monster, Grover, Abby Cadabby, and more as they discover how they can still play together while maintaining social distancing. The special will be set up like a Zoom style call in order to help little ones see where this applies to their own situations.
Celebrity guests include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anne Hathaway and Tracee Ellis Ross, for songs and games, while Elmo and friends will also celebrate every day heroes like doctors, nurses, and EMTs who are crucial during this time.
The creators behind Sesame Street: Elmo’s playdate share that they under isolation efforts are difficult for families, especially ones with children, and hope that the special can help provide laughter, joy and relief for these families.
Sesame Street: Elmo’s Playdate will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and partners’ streaming platforms, as well as part of the HBO offering on HBO Max at the time of its launch.
