Elmo is Getting a ‘Not-Too-Late’ Show on HBO Max and It’s The Late-Night Comedy Kids Need

By: Liz Hall

Let’s be honest. There is no such thing as too much Sesame Street. Now, our favorite 3 1/2-year old red monster, Elmo, is getting his own talk show, The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo, on the HBO Max streaming service. But Elmo won’t be going at it alone.

Elmo will be joined by lots of Sesame Street pals throughout the show, including Cookie Monster as his sidekick, the Count, Oscar the Grouch, Rosita, and many many more.

Interviews, Jokes, and More on the Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo

While this Elmo talk show is an original series, when parents tune in, they may be reminded of the classic The Muppet Show of the 70s and 80s. That’s because, based on the trailer, it also looks like a variety show with plenty of jokes, songs, and skits. In other words, parents can totally enjoy the Not-Too-Late Show along with their kids.

As a talk show, there will be plenty of guest stars to interview, including celebrities. Some guests shown in the first trailer include Blake Lively, Jason Sudeikis, Ciara, the Jonas Brothers, John Mulaney, and fellow late show talk star Jimmy Fallon, just to name a few. Batman is also set to take a break from saving Gotham City to make an appearance. Just in case that’s not enough reason to tune in, Kacey Musgraves is going to be singing a rendition of “Rubber Duckie.” I can’t wait to hear the full song version!

When Will The Not-Too-Late Show Air?

The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo starts streaming May 27 on HBO Max. And don’t worry, it won’t be too late, because Elmo needs to make his bedtime of 7:30 p.m.

While we wait for the first episode of the Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo to drop, Sesame Street continues to release all sorts of fun videos and resources perfect for kids stuck at home. In the meantime, catch up on snack chats with Cookie Monster and virtual play dates with Elmo. Kids can call their favorite Sesame Street characters for tips on social distancing. Parents can get a pep talk from Elmo’s dad. And families can even read more 100 Sesame Street books for free!

Other kid-friendly programming expected on HBO Max includes Looney Tunes. Will your family be tuning into the Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo?
