By: Shannon Carino

Move over Pat the Bunny and Clifford the Big Red Dog! These new board books, featuring E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Slimer from Ghostbusters, are perfect for any parent who loves their 80s movies. Even better, you can teach your kids numbers and words with these cool books!

Insight Editions is releasing this adorable series under the title PlayPop this year, with the first two books, Ghostbusters: 1 to 10 Slimer’s Loose Again and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial: E.T.’s First Words, arriving in early February.

The company plans two more releases in the PlayPop series this year, with more 80s movies fun.  Back to the Future and Labyrinth titles will be available in the summer and The Dark Crystal and a second Ghostbusters title will be available in the fall.

The books feature developmental concepts vital for small children, while interspersing them with parents’ favorite 80s characters.  The Ghostbusters’ books follows Slimer as he escapes the firehouse and counts his way from 1 to 10 through the city.  E.T. features everyone’s favorite extra-terrestrial playing dress up, riding bikes and phoning home.  His book provides word recognition on a spinning wheel to figure out what word completes the thought on the page.

Currently, both board books are available for pre-order on Amazon for $9.99, with a publishing date of February 4.  You can pre-order the E.T. Book Here and the Ghostbusters Book Here.

Wouldn’t they be the cutest baby gift for the new parents you know?
