The Elf on the Shelf has an all new assignment. Pete the Elf has joined the New York City Police Department as part of the NYPD 19th Precinct. Hashtagged as #PeteontheBeat on Twitter, the NYPD has been sharing Pete’s adventures helping the department.

Pete the Elf has transferred to the NYPD from the far North to take on a temporary assignment for the holidays. He’s helping to watch out if the citizens on his beat are naughty or nice.

Pete perused the NYPD’s Most Wanted list for the most heinous holiday criminals, in the hopes of finding the individual who stole Christmas, the magician responsible for taking Frosty the Snowman’s magic hat and more.
In the criminal justice system, candy cane assaults are considered especially heinous.

Candy cane assaults are extra serious crime this time of year and Pete is on the case to solve them.
Pete has also patrolled in a police cruiser, decorated the precinct, and “helped” with some of the office paperwork in his first few days with the NYPD. What else will he do this Christmas season?
