We are super excited to be presenting a Percy Jackson Photo Scavenger Hunt that you can print & play.
Last month I wrote about my plan to encourage my 13 year old to fall in love with reading.
That plot plan included the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. He has never enjoyed reading for pleasure (and barely tolerates it for school) which is why I thought if he read something he liked, he might change his mind.
I have been quietly watching.
At first, he resisted reading and even grumbled a little bit.
And then I didn’t hear anything at all, but noticed the second book, The Sea of Monsters, had been taken from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians box set.
Again, no complaints or grumbling and then the third book, The Titan’s Curse, was removed from the box.
When I asked him how far he has gotten today, he said that he was almost done with The Battle of the Labyrinth which is the fourth book! He went on to explain that he would be done with the fifth book, The Last Olympian, by the end of next week.
Wow. What a difference a month and a good set of books makes!
Is my plan working???!!!!
Percy Jackson Photo Scavenger Hunt
I thought it would be fun to add a little nudge to Rhett’s reading with an activity…we are Kids Activities Blog after all!
I enlisted his help to create a list of places that we would use as a photo scavenger hunt with whatever Percy Jackson book he is currently reading.
Rhett put a lot of thought into it. We wanted to find locations that were used in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series that could be used as inspiration for our photo adventure.
For instance, we don’t have a trip to Hoover Dam scheduled this summer, so the Lake Grapevine levy spillway will have to be a suitable substitution!
Here are some of the pictures we took for our scavenger hunt…
Casino
Forrest
Cruise & Ocean
Is it cheating if we use one picture for two scavenger items?

Join Our Summer Reading Challenge
It is not too late to join us for the fun. As you can see, just a few weeks with Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series has flown by for my reluctant reader.
It makes me so happy to see him willingly pick up a book. Many of the pictures above were taken on our summer vacation and he was using some of the quiet time to read.
This is a new and wonderful thing!
If you have a child who loves to read or one that is reluctant like mine, check out the Percy Jackson and the Olympians set. It has been on the best seller’s list for over 500 weeks for a reason!
